On the seafront near where I live there is a cliff walk with interesting rock formations I’ve been trying to do justice for the last couple of years.  To be honest most of the time I amble across these rocks I’m leaving the beach or cliffs after earlier shots and have missed the best light.  So this morning with a low tide and clear sunrise, I decided to have a go at shooting rocks…

Tower Bay RocksI’m quite pleased with the results but I think much more work is needed in this area.  The shot above really needed a rising tide at dawn instead of low water to fill the bottom left to centre of the frame.  So I’ll just have to file that away for another day.  Next year I think I’ll have to create a location timetable of all the alcoves and shots available along this coastline.  Location, State of Tide, Dawn/Dusk, Weather conditions preferred…  Getting all these variables right really does limit the number of days available to shoot the desired seascape.  Otherwise, it’s just opportunism.
