Once again I had the pleasure of working with Elle Beth on her trip to Ireland this week. This day was going to be very different. I’ll just talk about the morning for now in this post.
My motivation this time was to prepare some additional panel images for my pending AIPF submission later in the year. I’ve chosen a general theme of Model/Fashion/Portraits, but have some holes to fill and images to improve on if I’m to make a reasonable panel attempt. I also decided too many of my images were created in the same studio location and I wanted to try out some location hunting and push a bit further out of my comfort zone.
The morning shoot was in a country estate house built in the late 17 hundreds with beautifully restored features throughout. I had scouted the location a few weeks before and taken a series of images to let me ponder compositions and lighting. I wanted images with darker muted backgrounds. One room in particular suiting this need was a large library.
Looking back from the library there was another room with stunning ceiling detail.
The centre of the building had a beautiful staircase arcing around a stone floor screaming to be photographed.
My images still need some work before I can use them but the morning certainly worked out better than I had hoped. The only problem was the time constraint I inflicted on myself because I planned another shoot with Elle Beth for the same afternoon… more on that later:-)
