My first model shoot I arranged myself was back in 2008, not long after joining Celbridge Camera Club and being immensely impressed by the inspiring work of many club members. As I never do things in half measures I jumped into this endeavor full of naive enthusiasm, booked not one but two fantastic models visiting Ireland, Madame Bink and Ivory Flame, and not for a few hours, for a full day… what was I thinking! My head was wrecked within a few hours… but I learned a lot:-) Since then I rarely do full day shoots and rarely more than 1 model per shoot.
Last weekend, I had a pleasure of finally working with Madame Bink again, and for a whole day. This time, I think I was better prepared, a little more experienced, and so glad I finally got to work with Madame Bink again.
I had in mind a few images potentially for addition to my pending Panel submission, and we discussed ideas before the day and on the day of the shoot. We combined wardrobes and I particularly liked the combination of my Penny Dreadful Victorian jacket and Binks lingerie and shoes…
Since my new window installation in June I’ve been keen to see what light quality I can produce with it. Irish weather plays a big role with this, even a bright day can loose light fast as the clouds role in, so it’s always a challenge to keep up with the changing conditions.
Recently I acquired a large Octabox for my Elinchron kit, and as the light diminished, Bink reminded me I wanted to get some more studio light experience. So, I played with the lighting until i was happy with the balance and was very pleased with the result.
It’s been a busy week, but there’s plenty more images to work on from this set when time allows. Definitely going to work with Madame Bink again, just can’t decide if it’s in Ireland or will I pay a visit to the lake district on her location tours…
