Last weekend I had the pleasure of introducing the lovely Skye to my Fine Art Photography workflow. Before the shoot I shared my Session Style Guide to give some thoughts on wardrobe and overall look and feel for the day.
We were going to start the shoot with a warmup posing session, but before we could get to that Ollie gate crashed the shoot and insisted on joinning in.

With the snacks all gone, so was Ollie and we got on with the shoot with some posing ideas. Since this was Skyes first time in the studio we talked about standing pose techniques and a little about lighting.

Once we were happy with the lighting and basic posing ideas with explored some looks and use of fans for movement with skyes lovely long hair.

The day past quickly and after lunch the sunlight was no longer hitting the east facing window, so I had the idea to place the bare bulb mono light in the driveway and try some film noir lighting. The next portrait was lit with hard directional light through venetian blinds, creating a cinematic striped shadow pattern across my subject.

We shot for about four hours and I still have more images to process. I’ll be adding more images to the collection is in this gallery to view.
