I picked up an inspiring book recently by Calvin Hollywood called Calvinize. The book is mostly pictures, each chapter covering a different style and a short one page description what Calvin is trying to achieve in each section.
The book comes with a DVD of short videos explaining many of Calvins Photoshop techniques which I found very easy to follow, even if i did have to repeat them a few times to stick in my brain.
So I thought I’d give his Chapter in Emotion a go…
I ended up combining a few of his techniques here for sharpening (surface blur) and shading. Then I just grabbed a few texture images and composed the above resulting image.
There are many more techniques covered in the accompanying DVD and even more on Calvin’s website. So I’ve plenty of Photoshop to learn this summer…
